Auger decay following 1s to 3p resonant excitation in sodium atoms

Abstract: Non-monochromatized undulator radiation produced with two different undulator gaps was used to observe the Auger decay following 1s to 3p resonant excitation in atomic sodium. Experimental spectra were analysed by comparing with calculations carried out using the Hartree-Fock method with relativistic corrections. The spectra revealed a rich line structure due to the coupling of the holes created in the Auger decay with the electrons on the 3s and 3p subshells.
