Solo dining in Chinese restaurants: A mixed-method study in Macao

Abstract: Highlights Solo dining patterns among Chinese diners in Macao are investigated. A mixed-methods study involves 18 interviews and a survey of 493 diners. Diners’ socio-cultural backgrounds and regional characteristics shape solo dining. Dining time, menus, restaurant layout, and personal interactions are key considerations.
