Soil sampling intensity and spatial distribution pattern of soils attributes and corn yield in no-tillage system

Abstract: Taking into account that the sampling intensity of soil attributes is a determining factor for applying of concepts of precision agriculture, this study aims to determine the spatial distribution pattern of soil attributes and corn yield at four soil sampling intensities and verify how sampling intensity affects cause-effect relationship between soil attributes and corn yield. A 100-referenced point sample grid was imposed on the experimental site. Thus, each sampling cell encompassed an area of 45 m 2 and was… Show more

“…In this sense, the use of machine learning tools may accelerate the identification of data for characterizing soils. Several methods of analyzing large amount of data of both continuous and categorical variables have been used in works of various natures, such as the stepwise multiple linear regression (SMLR) (Juhos;Szabó;Ladányi, 2015;Menezes et al, 2016;Rodrigues;Corá;Fernandes, 2012). This analysis adjusts regression models from easily obtained variables to estimate data more difficult to be acquired, in which the addition or removal of predictive variables to the model is performed based on statistical tests, generating a final equation.…”

“…For soil P and K contents in all sampling grids, CVs were classified as high to very high (26.58 to 31.46%) (Pimentel-Gomez & Garcia, 2002). The high dispersion in the values of soil P and K contents is widely reported in the literature (Nanni et al, 2011, Rodrigues et al, 2012, Santi et al, 2012, Cherubin et al, 2014. High CV values are an indication of high spatial variability of attributes in the area (Oliveira et al, 2015), which, consequently, requires the use of sampling designs with a higher number of samples to faithfully reproduce the spatial variability of attributes at non-sampled sites (Siqueira et al, 2014).…”
