An Investigation of Uncertainty Intolerance and Uncertainty Management Research in Educational Institutions: Meta-Analysis Study

Purpose: In this meta-analysis study, it was aimed to analyze uncertainty intolerance and uncertainty management researches in educational institutions using meta-analysis method. Design/Methodology/Approach: This research was carried out as a type of group comparison meta-analysis, which is one of the types of meta-analysis. In the meta-evaluation, eight studies that met the inclusion criteria were reached. By combining these studies, a study was conducted on 2704 sample groups. In determining the meta-analysis model type of the research, first a funnel plot diagram was drawn for a general impression of publication bias, and then statistical calculations were carried out to reach a real conclusion. As a result of the diagram and statistical calculations, it was decided that there was no publication bias in the studies included in the meta-analysis. After determining that there was no publication bias, heterogeneity test was performed for model selection. Findings: As a result of the analysis, it was decided to interpret the meta-analysis according to the random effects model. Title and publication type were determined as moderators for heterogeneity. As a result of the meta-analysis, it was found that research into intolerance of uncertainty and uncertainty management in educational institutions had an average effect, the moderator effect of the theses was higher in the calculations regarding the moderator effect, and the titles of teachers and education administrators did not have any moderator effect in the title variable. Highlights: It was seen that the number of empirical studies on uncertainty intolerance and uncertainty management in educational institutions was few. It was determined that the studies could not provide the big picture of uncertainty management, even the effect sizes of the studies were not calculated in any of the studies, and a statistical conclusion could not be reached on whether the teachers' intolerance of uncertainty and uncertainty management perceptions work in practice. Therefore, the need to synthesize results on the effectiveness of intolerance of uncertainty and uncertainty management research emerged.

Greetings to our colleagues from all parts of the world. As the editor of the Journal of Mixed Methods Studies (JOMES), I would like to welcome you to Issue 5. This edition contains of two articles on mixed methods research that we believe will assist you, the reader, in conceptualizing and solving problems related to developing research or a manuscript with a mixed methods design. The current issue includes two articles: the first, which is called 'Methodological Trends of 500 Most Cited Educational Research Articles in the Last Decade' is designed as a conversion mixed methods research. In this study it was aimed to to reveal which paradigm/research method has dominated the 500 articles that have the highest citation in the last ten years in the field of education and examine whether the dominant paradigms impact the citations.The second which is called 'Private school teachers' experiences with distance education: mixed methods research. In this study, which is convergent mixed methods research design with the datatransformation variant, it was aimed to understand and interpret the solutions produced by the teachers working in private schools by revealing the problems they faced in distance education in qualiatative strand and to determine the frequency of the themes coded related to distance education so as to determine whether it differed according to opinions of the teachers working in secondary school and high school after quatifying the qualitative findings based on themes in quantitative strand.These articles are designed to offer thoughts, insight, suggestions, samples and ideas on mixed methods research done so far and how to decide and develop a mixed methods research. According to the guidance and the results of articles in this issue, researchers could shape their future mixed methods research.We hope you enjoy the articles in this fifth issue of the journal and find them informative and useful for designing and developing MMR. ÖzUluslararası sosyal bilimler yazınında, asimetrik nedensel ilişkiyi ortaya koyma potansiyeli olan bulanık küme nitel karşılaştırmalı analize (fsQCA) ilgi giderek artmasına rağmen, Türkiye'de bu analizi kullanan araştırmacıların azlığı dikkat çekicidir. Bu makale, sosyal bilimler alanında çalışan araştırmacıların verilerinden daha zengin bilgiler elde etmesine faydalı olabilecek bir yöntemin ulusal sosyal bilimler yazınına tanıtılması için kaleme alınmıştır. Sosyoloji kökenli olan bu yöntem hem nitel verilerin hem de nicel verilerin pragmatik bakış açısıyla tek bir analiz yöntemiyle ele alınabileceğini göstermesi açısından değerlidir. This article has been written to introduce a method that can help Turkish social science researchers obtain richer information from their data in the national social science literature. Rooted in sociology, this method is valuable in terms of showing how both qualitative and quantitative data can be pragmatically handled with a single analysis method. This article provides a comprehensive literature review and a detailed guide on how to use the method through a sample application for readers. In addition, the study analyzes the conditions and outcome configurations that are effective in countries' global competitiveness using the sample application provided in the research.
