Smart Nanoparticles for Breast Cancer Treatment Based on the Tumor Microenvironment

Abstract: Breast cancer (BC) is the most common malignant tumor in women. There are different risk characteristics and treatment strategies for different subtypes of BC. The tumor microenvironment (TME) is of great significance for understanding the occurrence, development, and metastasis of tumors. The TME plays an important role in all stages of BC metastasis, immune monitoring, immune response avoidance, and drug resistance, and also plays an important role in the diagnosis, prevention, and prognosis of BC. Smart nan… Show more

“…In the context of the lung tumor microenvironment (TME), these stimuli become particularly relevant due to the unique physiological and biochemical properties of cancerous tissue. [ 26 ] TME plays a crucial role in the development and progression of cancer. Studies examining lung cancer from the perspective of TME have revealed a complex scenario in which tumor angiogenesis, soluble factors, and TME cells themselves all contribute to tumor growth.…”

“…In addition, the toxicity should be reduced, or the immunogenicity minimized [17][18][19]. This fact is highly associated with non-selective or non-specific damage to healthy tissue [20,21]. Appropriate drug delivery is a key component to achieving an efficient drug recovery response.…”

“…Breast cancer (BC) is one of the most prevalent types of cancer in women throughout the world [ 1 ]. The incidence of BC has been growing at a 0.3% yearly pace in recent years, with 2.3 million new cases expected in 2020 and a considerable rise in mortality from 1990 to 2015 [ 2 ]. It is caused by estrogen/progesterone receptor mutations [ 1 ].…”
