Slb, a New Alloantigenic System of the Pig

Abstract: SUMMARY An alloantigen segregating in the double back‐cross families, distinct from serologically determinable transplantation antigens controlled by the major histocompatibility complex (SLA), was detected in pigs by the complementdependent lymphocytotoxic technique. The system was designated SLB and its product (antigen SLB‐Al) was demonstrated in all lymphocytes from the lymph nodes, thymus and peripheral blood, but not in the erythrocytes. Back‐cross matings supplied evidence of the dominant heredity of SL… Show more

“…The linkage group on chromosome 4 also includes the swine leucocyte antigen locus B (SLB), an alloantigen distinct from the major histocompatibility complex (SLA), since Hruban et al (1978) reported significant evidence for linkage between SLB and EAL (Z = 7.37 at 6 = 0.10). Further data are needed to map SLB in 337 A linkage P U P 0x1 pig chromosome 4 relation to the other markers now assigned to chromosome 4.…”

“…In this comparison, sera L2 and L7 (an inclusion in L2) were found to correlate with antigen SLA-12, while L1 correlated with SLA-20 and L4 with SLA-7. The SLB leucocyte system SLB-1, an antigen controlled by a locus independent of SLA (Hruban et al, 1978), was detected by two identically reacting cytotoxic sera. (19811 J. KLAUDY, V .…”
