This paper aims to present a comprehensive survey on information integration (II) in space informatics. With an ever-increasing scale and dynamics of complex space systems, II has become essential in dealing with the complexity, changes, dynamics, and uncertainties of space systems. The applications of space II (SII) require addressing some distinctive functional requirements (FRs) of heterogeneity, networking, communication, security, latency, and resilience; while limited works are available to examine recent advances of SII thoroughly. This survey helps to gain the understanding of the state of the art of SII in sense that (1) technical drivers for SII are discussed and classified; (2) existing works in space system development are analyzed in terms of their contributions to space economy, divisions, activities, and missions; (3) enabling space information technologies are explored at aspects of sensing, communication, networking, data analysis, and system integration; (4) the importance of first-time right (FTR) for implementation of a space system is emphasized, the limitations of digital twin (DT-I) as technological enablers are discussed, and a concept digital-triad (DT-II) is introduced as an information platform to overcome these limitations with a list of fundamental design principles; (5) the research challenges and opportunities are discussed to promote SII and advance space informatics in future.INDEX TERMS Information integration (II), space informatics, digital triad (DT-II), internet of digital-triad things (IoDTT), first-time right (FTR), space information integration (SII). Although RFID hardware and software solutions for material flow and supply chain systems are widespread, their implementation today is realized at the local process and system level. When solving the problem of transmitting information about equipment between different systems, errors of inconsistency in data formats occur. This situation arises in the practical work of instrument making and space industry enterprises. There is a fragmenta-tion of the used information environments, models and methods. Today the development of new models and methods of identification of objects of material flow is important; they would provide data flexibility and the ability to integrate with existing RFID hardware systems, readers and other hardware systems. As a methodological support there have been chosen CCSDS standards, which offer solutions and development of hardware and software packages to solve the problem of identification of objects based on RFID tags. A systematic approach to representing the object identification levels has been offered and the need to develop a new system that is applicable for the identification throughout the life cycle of the object of material flow has been proved. The analysis of changing CCSDS standards in the development of hardware and software systems is presented to solve the problem of identification of objects based on RFID tags, the developed new model of data representation for the identification of the object is given, the practical implementation in the form of a subprogram is given. In addition, the possibility of adding new information about the object of the material flow is implemented, which has caused an opportunity to solve the problem of monitoring its movement in practice. The presented solution is versatile and can be used with a large number of well-known models of RFID tags. The identification system has been tested successfully so far and the results are presented in the standard CCSDS “Spacecraft onboard interface services – RFID tag encoding specification”.

This study aimed to develop a device for traceability of the goods delivery process, using radio frequency technology (RFID), which will inform the date, time and location where the goods are being delivered to the end customer. The methodology used consisted of three stages: 1) data collection through a portable collector along with RFID tags, 2) data processing by the microcontroller and 3) carrying out the consultation of the information contained in the tag through the communication between the RFID and the Arduino, whose product traceability was carried out through radio frequency sending information via GSM; while the materials used were 1 mega arduino board, 1 6m Neo GPS shield, 1 Sim 900 module, 1 RC522 RFID reader, 1 16x2 graphic LCD display and 1 keychain RFID tag. For testing the sending of date, time, product specifications and location information via SMS to the registered cell phone at the time of product delivery, operations were carried out in different locations with different dates and times and the messages were sent without fail. The results confirmed the display of the information “Data Collected Successfully” on the LCD display, after the reading of the LCD label by the collector. The proposed prototype proved to be effective, managing to control the delivery of low-cost goods through passive tag on a portable RFID reader.
