“…This phenomenon may be attributed to the different species of the complexation products of OTC and Cu at various pH conditions. According to the previous researches [8,10], it is inferred that at pH ≤3, the species were primarily CuH 2 L 2+ and CuHL + ; at 3≤pH≤4, the main species existed as CuHL + ; at 4<pH≤8, CuHL + and CuL are the main species, and at 8<pH, CuL dominates in the solution. Thus, because the increased speciation ratio of CuHL + originated from H 3 L + enhanced the adsorption of OTC onto loess soil from pH 3.0 to pH 4.0, it is indicated that the complexation of Cu 2+ and H 3 L + could favor OTC adsorption with Cu(II) playing as a bridge across the structure.…”

“…Fig. 3 shows the distribution curves of OTC and Cu(II) calculated from visual MINTEQ + process [8]. It could be seen that the predominant species of OTC are OTC + and OTC at pH 3 and 4, OTC at pH 5, OTC and OTC − at pH 8, and OTC, OTC − and OTC 2− at pH 10.…”

“…Their presence in the ecosystem has drawn high attention because of their potential to have negative ecological consequences. Antibiotics are hazardous contaminants because of their adverse effects on aquatic life and humans [33]. Mostly found in municipal wastewater [34], they are a kind of natural, semisynthetic or synthetic pharmaceutical products, that have been broadly employed in the elimination and therapy of human diseases, and also as growth promoters in animal husbandry and aquaculture.…”

“…OTC release from aerobic granules was 0.799-10.758 % when the coexisting Cu 2+ concentration was reduced from 40 to 0 mg L -1 and 0.08-6.21 % for Cu 2+ when the coexisting OTC concentration was reduced from 10 to 0 mg L -1 . This suggests that the reduction in coexisting ion concentration has a negative impact on their combined capacity with aerobic granules [33]. The exposure of Cu 2+ and Cu 2+ /PFOS to sludge reduced bacterial community richness and diversity.…”
