Table tennis has recently evolved towards a more spectacular sport increasing match-play demands and the intensity and speed of actions by regulations and equipment modification. Since these changes can alter the body composition and performance, this study aimed to analyze the differences in anthropometric attributes of 495 table tennis players (288 men, 207 women) according to sex, age, and ranking. Players were classified according to sex, age categories (Senior, Under-18, Under-15, Under 13, and Under 11), and ranking position. Anthropometry measurements included eight skinfolds’ thicknesses (biceps brachii, triceps, subscapular, iliac crest, supraspinal, abdominal, thigh, and medial calf), four girths (biceps brachii relaxed and contracted, thigh, and calf), and three breadths (biepicondylar femur, biepicondylar humerus, and bistiloyd wrist) to determine fat mass, lean mass, bone, cross sectional area (CSA) for arm, leg, and thigh, and somatotype. Results revealed that table tennis players presented differences in body mass composition, anthropometry, and somatotype according to sex and age category and ranking. It seems confirmed that regular table tennis practice during the childhood is associated with a healthy body composition status, that appears to be maintained across older ages if keeping the practice. Senior table tennis players showed a fat mass <20% and lean mass ~45% in men and ~37% in women. A new contribution is that higher lean mass in the upper limbs was associated with higher ranking position (i.e., better performance), endomorphic somatotypes were negative related to performance, and ectomorphic profiles seems more effective, which suggest the potential influence of morphologic changes in table tennis competition performance.

Purpose. To determine the impact of exercise modes on the effectiveness of teaching boys aged 14 the press headstand and handstand. Materials and methods. The study participants were 20 boys aged 14. The children and their parents were fully informed about all the features of the study and gave their consent to participate in the experiment. To solve the tasks set, the following research methods were used: study and analysis of scientific and methodological literature; pedagogical observation, timing of training tasks; pedagogical experiment, methods of mathematical statistics, discriminant analysis. Results. The assumption was made about a significant influence of the modes of alternating exercise repetitions and the rest interval on the effectiveness of teaching boys aged 14 the press headstand and handstand. The study found that the mode of 6 sets 1 time each with a rest interval of 60 s is more effective than the mode of 6 sets 2 times each with a rest interval of 60 s when teaching series of training tasks 2, 4, 5, and 6. Conclusions. The analysis of standardized, structure coefficients, and group centroids revealed that exercise modes significantly influence the process of teaching boys aged 14 the press headstand and handstand during physical education classes. The results of classification of the groups show that 100 % of the original grouped cases were classified correctly

Kota surakarta merupakan salah satu kota yang menjadi pusat kegiatan olahraga. Hal tersebut tidak terkecuali karena adanya kompleks stadion manahan, kampus fakultas keolahragaan, dan pelatnas Asian Paragames juga berpusat di kota Surakarta. Dengan tingginya animo masyarakat kota Surakarta untuk berolahraga, masyarakat masih banyak yang belum mengetahui tentang pemanduan bakat olahraga. Apabila dikembangkan, kota Surakarta akan menciptakan bibit-bibit atlet yang unggul untuk menjadi calon generasi penerus atlet di Indonesia. Tujuan dari kegiatan sosialisasi dan implementasi pemanduan bakat olahraga ini adalah untuk memberikan pengetahuan dan pemahaman kepada guru dan mahasiswa agar mampu dan terampil menjadi instruktur dalam pelaksanaan tes kegiatan pemanduan bakat olahraga. Sasaran dari sosialisasi dan pelatihan ini adalah 3 guru PJOK, 25 Mahasiswa, dan 100 siswa. Hasil pengabdian diperoleh bahwa guru dan mahasiswa antusias dalam mengikuti kegiatan pemanduan bakat yang dibuktikan dengan guru PJOK dan mahasiswa dapat menjadi tester, serta siswa yang menjadi testi dapat melaksanakan semua item tes. Simpulan dalam pengabdian ini didapatkan bahwa guru, mahasiswa, dan siswa memahami pelaksanaan tes pemanduan bakat olahraga sebagai upaya penjaringan atlet sejak dini. Berdasarkan sosialisasi dan implementasi yang dilaksanakan, guru, mahasiswa, dan siswa mampu melaksanakan tes pemanduan bakat olahraga secara mandiri untuk dapat menemukan bakat siswa dalam bidang olahraga. Surakarta city is one of the cities that has become the centre of sports activities. This is no exception because the Manahan stadium complex, sports faculty campus, and Asian Para game national park are also centred in Surakarta. With the high interest of the people of Surakarta city to exercise, many people still do not know about sports talent scouting. If developed, the city of Surakarta will create the seeds of superior athletes to become candidates for the next generation of athletes in Indonesia. This sports talent scouting and implementation activity aim to provide teachers and students with knowledge in carrying out sports talent scouting activities. These socialization and training targets are 3 PJOK teachers, 25 students, and 100 students. This activity was held in March 2022. The service results were obtained that teachers and students were enthusiastic about participating in talent scouting activities, as PJOK teachers and students could become testers, and students who became testees could carry out all test items. The conclusion in this devotion was obtained that teachers, students, and students knew the implementation of the sports talent scouting test as an effort to screen athletes early on. Thus, it is expected that teachers, students, and students can carry out sports talent scouting tests independently to find student talents in sports.
