Similaridade e fatores determinantes na salinidade das águas superficiais do Ceará, por técnicas multivariadas

Abstract: RESUMOIn groups 1 and 2, the salinity level of the water was, mainly, due to the geology and the climate of the region. While for group 3 and 4, besides these factors, the water salinity was influenced by human activities. According to the results, the first and the second components (independent factors) explaining, 57.28 and 26.77%, respectively, the total variance of seven variables. The most important parameters related to the variability of the water salinity level were Cl -, CE, Na + and Mg 2+, which wer… Show more

“…Similar results were found by Andrade et al (2007) and Palácio et al (2011) in studies of surface water in the state of Ceará, where the Na + showed a high factor loading in the first component. The VF4 showed high positive coefficients for the elements Mg +2 (0.909) and Ca +2 (0.908).…”

“…As the demand for water resources in the world increases, the likelihood of providing fresh water decreases. As an aggravating factor, in recent decades water quality has been deteriorating rapidly, which prevents the use of important reservoirs (Alexandre et al, 2010;Palácio et al;, Li et al, 2011Guedes et al, 2012). These studies demonstrate the tendency of water resources to become ever scarcer, both quantitatively and qualitatively, should no clear action be taken which is aimed at improving the management of the supply and demand of water for different uses.…”

“…In water sources in the state of Ceará, in Northeast Brazil, they observed a strong correlation of electrical conductivity with sodium, magnesium, calcium, hardness and chloride, that is, dissolved solids [23]. Further strengthening the strong correlation between electrical conductivity and dissolved solids, the authors of [24] found a correlation exceeding 0.9 for the electrical conductivity and the chlorates.…”

“…Besides natural causes (Lloret et al, 2008;Chellappa et al, 2009;Fragoso Jr. et al, 2011;Palácio et al, 2011), anthropogenic factors for reservoir eutrophication are numerous. It includes contamination by nutrients and pollutants resulting from agricultural and cattle raising activities, non-treated effluents of urban areas, and aquaculture systems (Hadas et al, 1999;Brainwood et al, 2004;Ma et al, 2009;Strauch et al, 2009;Kang et al, 2010;Moreno-Mateosa et al, 2010).…”
