Show more

“…The amount of ash was higher at 50 and 75 mg/kg treatments, which shows the important physiological role of astaxanthin in calcium and lipid metabolization. This is consistent with the findings of Faghani et al (2013) on the addition of astaxanthin to beluga diet.…”

“…The amount of body lipid decreased with increasing levels of nanoliposome-coated astaxanthin, which is consistent with the results of Faghani et al (2013) on the addition of astaxanthin to beluga (Huso huso) diet. The main reason is the synthesis and metabolism of lipid by encapsulation of astaxanthin in liposomes (Rehulka, 2000).…”

“…It presents nutrient-rich tubers, which allow it to resume growth after the first rains of the short annual rainy season MOREIRA FILHO et al, 2008;SOUZA et al, 2006). Its senesced leaves are consumed by animals; however, when they are green and photosynthetically active, they contain cyanogenic glycosides in levels that are toxic to ruminants (COSTA et al, 2008;FRANÇA et al, 2010;MEDINA et al, 2009). The quantity of these cyanogenic glycosides is reduced to non-toxic levels (43% or less of the original content) by cutting of fresh fine stems and leaves.…”
