This experiment explores the effect and optimal levels of irradiated Chitosan (IrC) in the diet on lipogenesis and its effect on the blood lipid profile of the Sentul Chickens starter phase. The IrC was generated from shrimp waste chitin, and in addition to being a feed supplement, it has the potential to reduce environmental pollution. Furthermore, Sentul chickens were 100 samples, reared from 0-8 weeks, and the observed variables included triglyceride, cholesterol, and blood Non-Esterified Fatty Acid (NEFA). A completely randomized design (CRD) experimental method was used with four treatments and five replications. The treatments were K0 = basal diet without IrC, K1 = 300 ppm IrC in basal diet, K2 = 350 ppm IrC in basal diet, K3 = 400 ppm IrC in the basal diet. Meanwhile, the samples used for analysis were 40 individuals from the research object based on the average body weight of the population. The results showed that the provision of rations containing IrC (K1) 300 ppm, (K2) 350 ppm, and (K3) 400 ppm had a significant effect (P<0.05) on triglyceride, cholesterol, and NEFA profile in Sentul Chickens blood of the starter phase.

Pelung is one of the most importance local chicken in Indonesia. Genetic introgression and inbreeding depression were the major threat for local chicken gene pool. The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of serial inbreeding mating to plumage colours of Pelung chicken. Pure Pelung chicken which purchased from Cianjur sub-district was undergo full-sib mating through five generation. All offspring phenotypes was recorded. The results show gradual plumage phenotype change of inbreed Pelung chicken. Initially, adult male chicken had Black-red coloured as wildtype (WT) shifted to partridge and black-silver coloured in later generations. The current findings indicating that inbreeding made recessive traits to be expressed which some of them might had deleterious effect. Random mating should be maintained to preserve genetics stability of Pelung chicken

Domestic farm animals or, Animal Genetic Resources (AnGR), are part of the global biodiversity. The existence of AnGR, mainly local breeds, is threatened, and their population data is still far from complete. This study provides information about Pelung chickens (Gallus gallus domesticus), a local chicken breed in Indonesia. The purpose of this study was to offer an overview of the population, effective population size, and inbreeding rate of Pelung chickens in four regencies in West Java, Indonesia. The method used in this study was a survey of fanciers and breeders of Pelung. Interviews were conducted to reveal the production system and population data. The data were analyzed descriptively and then calculated to estimate the effective population size (Ne) as well as the rate of inbreeding (?F). This preliminary survey indicated that there was a change in the distribution of the Pelung chicken, in which Garut Regency has the largest population number of Pelung, with 5664 birds of all ages. In this study, Pelung chickens in different areas had high Ne (267-569), and the ?F can be considered fairly low (0.09-0.19). The results of the study are probably the first documentation of the population number of Pelung chickens in at least ten years. This research is the initial study that forms the basis for conducting a comprehensive survey on the Pelung chicken. This study offers an upper limit result of Ne, so that accurate diversity parameter such as using genomic information is required.
