A research was conducted at Quail Breeding Centre of Padjadjaran University.  A hundred quails of female black and brown color of each line was observed from hatch to age of six weeks. Four growth models were compared: Gompertz, Logistic, Richards, and MMF. The best fit was measured with Coefficient of determination (R2) and standard error of prediction (se). The results showed that all observed models have high accuracy with R2 ranging from 0.9950 to 0.9988 for black color, and 0.9984 to 0.9992 for brown color respectively. Standard errors of prediction (SE) ranged from 1.99 g to 4.01 g for black, and from 1.92 g to 2.52 g for brown, respectively. Gompertz model was more favorable with R2 and SE of 0.9988 and 1.99 g for black, and 0.9991 and 1.92 g for brown, respectively. Age at inflection, maximum average daily gains and weights at inflection were 4.18 week, 27.87 g and 100.23 g for black line and 3.38 week, 25.05 g and 75.34 g for brown line, respectively.

Abstrak Kambing Saanen dan Peranakan Etawa (PE) merupakan dua jenis kambing perah yang terkenal unggul dalam produksi dan kualitas susu diantara jenis kambing penghasil susu lainnya. Tujuan penelitian untuk mengetahui perbandingan performa reproduksi (Service per Conception, Days Open, Kidding Interval dan Umur Kawin Pertama) kambing Saanen dan PE. Penelitian dilakukan di Balai Besar Pembibitan Ternak Unggul–Hijauan Pakan Ternak (BBPTU-HPT) Baturraden-Purwokerto Jawa Tengah. Metode penelitian adalah studi kasus. Data yang digunakan adalah data reproduksi yang berasal dari 61 ekor kambing Saanen dan 56 ekor kambing PE. Uji t digunakan untuk mengetahui perbedaan rataan nilai tampilan reproduksi kambing Saanen dengan PE. Hasil penelitian menunjukan performa reproduksi kambing Saanen lebih baik dari PE dilihat dari Service per Conception (1,15 vs 1,61), Days Open (136,46 hari vs 189,07 hari), kidding interval (284,27 hari vs 338,71 hari) dan umur kawin pertama (275,38 hari vs 393,63 hari). ¬Kata Kunci : Saanen, Peranakan Etawa, Reproduksi Abstract Saanen and Peranakan Etawa (PE) were two popular dairy goats which were superior in the production and milk quality compared to the other kinds of dairy goats. This research’s purpose was to compare the performance of those two dairy goats (Saaneen and PE) in terms of reproduction (Service per Conception, Days Open, Kidding Interval and First Age of Breeding). Record of birth weight of Holstein calf can be used as consideration for selection. The purpose of this study is to determine the accuracy of birth weight based on regular measuring tape compared to Calf scale BW Tape. The records of calf’s birth weight were collected from 1370 female calf birth records from PT Taurus Dairy Farm, Sukabumi. Birth weight measurements were performed by (i) measuring birth weight using Calf scale BW Tape (Nasco, Fort Atkinson, WI); (ii) predicting birth weight with regression based on the circumference of the right front toenails using regular measuring tape a day after the calf was born; (iii) weighing the calf with the scales. The results showed that the predicted birth weight of dairy cow’s calves can be done by regular measuring tape with a polynomial regression equation, Y=(-6288,6)+(1378.8X)-(113.0X2)+(4.1X3)-(0.056X4), which has a deviation 0.5%, and 7.4% using Calfscale BW Tape. Conclusion of this research is that predicting birth weight of dairy cow’s calves using regular measuring tape is more accurate than using Calfscale BW Tape

Information about milk production in dairy cows is obtained most accurately by daily recording, but with consideration, such as time and cost. This study aimed to obtain accurate and efficient recording patterns to estimate milk production in dairy cows. This research used recording of milk production in BBPTU-HPT Baturraden. The data used is the record of milk production of Test Day (TD) from the year 2014-2017 as many as 8696 records of TD that derived from 213 head of cows on first lactation. The record of TD milk production is the recording of milk production performed only on certain days during a lactation period. The milk production expectant curve used is the Ali-Schaeffer. The result of this research that Ali-Schaeffer equation with correlation between estimated and actual value (r) 0.991, standard error (se) 0.64, and standard deviation (stdv) 0,01. Recording of milk production Pattern 5, namely the recording of milk production in TD 1, 2, 5, 8, and 11, showed the highest correlation value (r=0.998). It is recommended to record the milk production in the early months of lactation and combined with the recording of TD milk production periodically every three months, from mid to late production.
