Shape-Controlled Micro-Crystals of Chain-Like Zn(II) Coordination Polymer [Zn(NIA)EDA]∝ and Its Catalytic Performance

Abstract: In this study, a new Zn coordination polymer (Zn-CP), hereafter, 1Zn, was successfully assembled in a solvothermal system, exhibiting one-dimensional extended chains. 1Zn morphologies were controlled by temperature and surfactants. In addition, the catalytic performance of 1Zn microsized CP was investigated. Knoevenagel condensation after 4 h afforded a conversion of 86%, and a conversion greater than 96% was obtained for 4-chlorobenzaldehyde and 4-bromobenzaldehyde because of their electron-withdrawing ligand… Show more

“…To date, several removal methods including biosorption and adsorption 5 , 9 , 10 , ion-exchange 11 , 12 , catalytic degradation 13 15 , and membrane separation 16 , 17 have been studied and used to remove synthetic dyes from the aqueous environments. Among them, the adsorption technique has attracted a great deal of attention because it is a more efficient, simple, versatile, cost-effective, and best-suited process for the removal of synthetic dyes like AF and AO 9 , 18 20 .…”

“…Owing to the importance of these chromene and imidazopyrimidine derivatives in the pharmaceutical industry, the development of an efficient catalytic system for the synthesis of these organic molecules that especially operates under mild reaction conditions is needed, so as to lower the energy consumption and also production costs. A variety of metal–organic framework (MOF) catalysts, such as zeolite imidazolate frameworks, many solid-supported amine-functionalized catalysts, heterometallic catalysts, cation-exchange zeolites, and ionic liquids, have been utilized for this reaction . Albeit there are only a few examples of heterogeneous bifunctional catalysts, based on coordination polymers (CPs) having both active sites, i.e., coordinatively unsaturated metal centers acting as the Lewis acidic sites and free Lewis basic sites within the same molecular framework .…”
