“…Although angiographic examination did not disclose any impairment in retinal pigment epithelial barrier function, it appears that a long-standing foveal detachment can compromise visual recovery. This could be due to an anomalous realignment of photoreceptors or to an impaired pigment epithelial photoreceptor relationship [5,9].
