Si traduire est chaque fois un acte singulier, motivé par des choix de communication, comment cette singularité peut-elle s'appuyer sur l'analyse statistique des régularités linguistiques qui tissent chaque type de discours ? Notre proposition de recherche se situe à la croisée de la traductologie, de la linguistique de corpus et de la didactique. Elle vise, à partir de commentaires de traduction rédigés par des étudiants en master professionnel de traduction spécialisée 1 , à analyser la manière dont les étudiants parviennent, ou non, à étayer leurs décisions de traduction sur l'analyse des corpus comparables qu'ils ont constitués. Nous nous attachons particulièrement à comprendre dans quelle mesure et à quelles conditions l'approche du discours proposée par la linguistique de corpus peut fonder des choix de traduction conformes aux objectifs de communication du texte cible. Les éléments recueillis, concernant les critères de choix des traducteurs et les éléments linguistiques qui les fondent, devraient permettre de mieux appréhender les conditions susceptibles de faire des corpus des ressources indispensables aux plans linguistique, professionnel et didactique. 2 Dans un premier temps, nous revenons sur les relations contradictoires qu'entretiennent les techniques fondées sur l'interrogation de corpus d'une part et la pratique de la traduction spécialisée d'autre part. Nous soulignons les problèmes que soulève l'interprétation des données fournies par l'interrogation automatisée pour une décision de traduction raisonnée et proposons d'analyser ces choix à la lumière de commentaires de traduction réalisés par des étudiants.
