Selection of cotton lines for high oil content

Abstract: -The objective of this work was to evaluate the oil content and characters related to fiber quality and yield in cotton lines (Gossypium hirsutum), in order to select genotypes with high oil content and acceptable levels of the other characters. “…A study was conducted on genetic variability, heritability, genetic gain and correlations for cottonseed soil in eight G. hirsutum cultivars and found significant differences among the genotypes for seed oil, which ranged from 27.52% to 30.15%, and a negative correlation was found between oil and yield [69].
