Seedlings production of two tomato (Solanum licopersicum L.) cultivars under different environments and substrates

Abstract

El tipo de ambiente y la calidad de los sustratos en la producción de plántulas son esenciales para la producción de plantas productivas bajo condiciones de campo. Con el objetivo de determinar el mejor ambiente y sustrato para la producción de plántulas de dos cultivares de tomate (IPA 06 y Santamélia), dos experimentos, completamente aleatorios y dispuestos en parcelas subdivididas con cinco repeticiones, se llevaron a cabo bajo las condiciones ambientales de Boa Vista, Roraima, Brasil . Los tratamientos consistieron en la asociación entre cinco ambientes (A1 - invernadero, A2 - Chromatinet ® 35% rojo, A3 - Chromatinet ® 50% rojo, A4 - Chromatinet ® 35% plata y A5 - Chromatinet ® 50% plata) y cuatro sustratos S1 - OrganAmazon®; S2 - OrganAmazon® + PureHumus®; S3 - OrganAmazon® + PureHumus® + estiércol del suelo + bovino, y S4- OrganAmazon® + PureHumus® + suelo + estiércol + cascarilla de arroz carbonizada (CRH) en las siguientes variables: número de hojas, altura de la planta, diámetro del tallo, brote seco y la biomasa de la raíz, la relación entre la altura de la planta y el diámetro del tallo de acuerdo con el índice de calidad de las plántulas de colon y Dickson. Los sustratos se hicieron con la adición de PureHumus®, sin presentar CRH (S2 y S3), lo que favoreció el aumento de todas las variables analizadas. Además, el invernadero, especialmente cuando está asociado al sustrato S2, había logrado el mejor ambiente para la producción de plántulas de los dos cultivares de tomate evaluados. Las redes de sombreado fotoconvertidor no fueron eficientes en la producción de plántulas de tomate en condiciones climáticas de Boa Vista, Roraima, Brasil.

“…According to Monteiro Neto et al (2018), plant height (PH) is a variable used as quality standard for seedlings produced in nursery, however, it should be combined with collar diameter (CD), thus constituting one of the most important parameters of vegetal growth. This indicates that, though the highlighted substrates present more increment of PH and CD, they still can't be defined as promoters of quality growth with the isolated quantification of these variables alone.…”

Shade nets and substrates in seedling production of Annona squamosa L. in the Roraima Cerrado

“…These factors may be connected to the results of the present study as the plants presented somewhat uneven vegetative growth, especially as indicated by the PH/SD value in E2, which also resulted in higher values for several of the variables evaluated (Tables 4 and 5). Similar behavior was also observed in pepper (MONTEIRO NETO et al, 2016) and tomato seedlings (MONTEIRO NETO et al, 2018), indicating that the tested shade nets promote uneven growth of the vegetative parts of a variety of plant species during seedling production.…”

Monteiro Neto et al (2018) studied tomato seedling production using the same environments tested in the present study, and measured global radiation (GR), photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), and PAR/GR ratio under the shade nets, and observed that shade nets with 35% light reduction (E3 and E4) had in greater GR and PAR transmittance, but that the highest PAR/GR ratio was observed under a red shade net with 50% light reduction (E2), which may have contributed to increased PH, NL, SDW, and RDW when analyzed alone.…”
