“…The guidelines for reproduction tests using D. magna (International Standards Organization, 2000; Organisation for Economic Co‐operation and Development [OECD], 2012; US Environmental Protection Agency, 1996) recommend that the offspring produced by each parent animal should be counted daily. The same procedure is used for other Daphnia species, such as Daphnia longispina (Martins et al, 2017), Daphnia pulex (Liu et al, 2020), and Daphnia similis (Araujo et al, 2019), and for Ceriodaphnia species (Kergaravat et al, 2021), all requiring the counting of a high number of neonates frequently throughout the exposure period. This applies as well to larger scale experiments in which population‐level parameters are inspected, as is the case for multigenerational experiments that address different research questions (see Jeremias et al, 2018; Loureiro et al, 2011, 2013).…”
