CRISPR1 analysis of naturalized surface water and fecal Escherichia coli suggests common origin

Abstract: Clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPRs) are part of an acquired bacterial immune system that functions as a barrier to exogenous genetic elements.
