Inappropriate drug use is a significant challenge both around the globe and in our country. Potential teratogenicity of these drugs, their impact on the fetus and newborn, and finally the long-term effects that may be observed in the child should be taken into consideration especially when planning the use of drugs in pregnant women since the active ingredients in the drug and its metabolites can be transmitted to the fetus through the placenta and cause negative consequences. Therefore, this study was conducted to examine the knowledge levels and attitudes of pregnant women towards rational drug use. Pregnant women (n=414) who agreed to participate in the study and were hospitalized in the Gynecology and Obstetrics Clinics of Mardin State Hospital and Kızıltepe District State Hospital between 01.12.2018-01.02.2019 were included in this descriptive study. The data were collected by face-to-face interview technique through a questionnaire. The total mean scores of the Rational Drug Use (RDU) scale of pregnant women were found to be 32.43 ± 6.37. It was revealed that painkillers were the most frequently used drugs during pregnancy (with the rate of 71.0%) and most prescribed to be spared at home (with the rate of 86.9%). In addition, one of every two pregnant women held the opinion that they used analgesics uncontrolledly and 34.5% of the pregnant women used antibiotics in such an uncontrolled way. The rate of pregnant women who were prescribed medication to be spared at home was found to be 33.6%. A significant difference was found between RDU scale scores and socio-demographic characteristics of the pregnant women. Aim: This study was conducted to determine information, attitude, and behaviors of patients that apply at ear, nose, throat polyclinic regarding rational drug use. Method:The study that was planned as a descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 273 patients that applied at ear nose throat polyclinic of a university hospital. Data was collected using Patient Information Form and Rational Drug Use Information Form and descriptive statistics were used in the analysis.Findings: Average age of patients were 40.71±15.21 year and 38.4% of the patients had higher education degree. It was found that 73.3% of the patients did not have knowledge about rational drug use, 59% received information about drugs they used from the doctor, 52.7% read the drug prospectus, 86.4% used the drugs prescribed by prescription, 75.8% used analgesics without consulting the doctor, 75.1% knew the storage conditions of drugs, 73.3% knew the purpose of use of drugs, and 82.4% knew the method of administration of the drug they used. Attitudes that were not in line with rational drug use were determined as taking nonprescription drug, increasing dosages used, abandoning drug when symptoms end, taking the same drug when symptoms repeat, seeking solutions by oneself in case of side effects, receiving and giving drug advices from relatives, and to acquaintances, and not investigating drug interactions. Conclusion and Recommendations:It was observed that the patients did not receive information about rational drug use. The results of the research showed that the patients had positive as well as negative attitudes about drug use. In line with these results, it is recommended that patients be educated on rational drug use.

Bu araştırma 0-12 yaş aralığında çocuğu olan ebeveynlerin akılcı ilaç kullanımı tutumlarını belirlemek ve ebeveynlerin akılcı ilaç kullanım tutumlarını etkileyen tanıtıcı özelliklerini incelemek amacıyla yapılmıştır.Gereç ve Yöntemler: Bu çalışma kesitsel-tanımlayıcı tipte olup, araştırma örneklemini İstanbul' da bir devlet ilkokulunda eğitim görmekte olan çocukların ebeveynleri (n=719) oluşturdu. Araştırmanın verileri Tanıtıcı Özellikler Formu ve Akılcı İlaç Kullanımına Yönelik Ebeveyn Tutum Ölçeği (AİKYETÖ) kullanılarak toplandı.Bulgular: Ebeveynlerin AİKYETÖ puan ortalaması 174.96±17.77, doğru ve bilinçli ilaç kullanım puan ortalaması 132.36±14.35, etkili ve güvenli ilaç kullanım puan ortalaması 42.59±8.20 olarak bulundu. Ebeveynlerin uzun süre yaşadığı yer, aile tipleri, gelir durumları, eğitim durumları, çocuk sayıları, çocuklarının yaşları, çocuk cinsiyetleri, hastalık durumlarında başvurdukları yer ve reçetesiz ilaç kullanma durumları ile AİKYETÖ puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı fark olduğu bulundu (p<0.05). Ebeveynlerin en uzun süre yaşanılan yer, aile tipleri, gelir durumları, eğitim durumları, çocuk sayıları, çocuklarının yaşları, çocuk cinsiyetleri, hastalık durumlarında başvurdukları yer durumlarına göre doğru ve bilinçli ilaç kullanımı alt ölçeği puan ortalamaları arasında istatistiksel olarak anlamlı fark olduğu bulundu (p<0.05). Ebeveynlerin çocuk sayıları, hastalık durumlarında başvurdukları yer ve reçetesiz ilaç kullanma durumlarının etkili ve güvenli ilaç kullanımı alt ölçeği puan ortalamaları arasında anlamlı fark olduğu bulundu (p<0.05).Sonuç: Ebeveynlerin akılcı ilaç kullanımı tutum puanlarının yüksek olduğu söylenebilir. Ancak çocuk sayısı fazla olan, yenidoğan çocuğu olan, kız çocuğa sahip olan, reçetesiz ilaç kullanan, geliri az olan, geniş ailede yaşayan, en uzun yaşadığı yer ilçe ve köy olan ebeveynlerin AİKYETÖ puan ortalamaları düşük bulunduğundan, akılcı ilaç kullanımı konusunda planlanacak eğitim programlarında bu durumun dikkate alınması önerilir.
