Safety analysis of water resources and eco-environment in Shiyang River Basin

Abstract: The research on the present situation of soil and water development and utilization in Shiyang River Basin shows that water resources and eco-environment situation in this area are near the edge of collapse. Since the water crises occurred in the 1970s, problems caused by continuous decrease of water resources have been becoming serious year by year and eco-environment crisis occurred as a consequence. Up to now, 10 380ha of irrigated lands have been abandoned due to sand coverage and water shortage in the bas… Show more

“…Studies indicate that in the Wuwei Basin, located in the SYB's middle reaches, human activities such as groundwater extraction influenced groundwater levels by 63%, whereas climate factors contributed 37%. In the Minqin Basin at the lower reaches, the contributions from human activities and climate factors were 79% and 21%, respectively [32]. The main dynamics influencing groundwater level variations in the Minqin Basin encompass inflow from the Hongyashan Reservoir and groundwater extraction.…”

“…Similar characteristics exist in the SRB; due to vegetation degradation, the NDVI in the east and west upper reaches of the SRB and the artificial oasis areas in the central and lower regions decreased significantly (Figure 2c). HA has an significant impact on the ecologically fragile arid zone [78], and to a certain extent, it will cause further exacerbation of the ecological environment [79,80]. HA are not only reflected in the process of LUCC; the change of groundwater should not be ignored [81].…”

“…Table 1 shows the total vehicle weight and the aggregated material composition (excluding the battery materials) of each vehicle discussed in our analysis. The assumptions used in this paper [9][10][11]: a) Recycling processes for the vehicle materials are included in the end-of-life disposal stage. b) We assumed all the electricity used in this study is produced from the coal fired power plant, and the production of 1kWh of electricity consumed 374 grams of coal.…”
