S-RO: Simple Route Optimization Scheme with NEMO Transparency

Abstract: Abstract. Network mobility (NEMO) basic support protocol maintains the connectivity when mobile router (MR) changes its point of attachment to the Internet by establishing a bidirectional tunnel between MR and Home Agent (HA). However, it results in pin-ball routing and multiple encapsulations especially in the nested NEMO. In order to solve these problems, we propose a simple route optimization scheme for NEMO and nested NEMO. In the proposed scheme, a correspondent node (CN) maintains network prefix binding … Show more

“…But the MNN based scheme could cause high signaling overhead in the wireless channel as the signaling takes place between every MNN-CN pair. Within the MR-CN class such as [14], the mobile router performs the mobility signaling on behalf of MNNs. Because most of the mobile nodes in APC environment are mobile supported and have their own home agent, the MR have to know deep knowledge of the mobile nodes to performs the mobility management and route optimization for the MNN.…”

“…In S-RO, proposed by Kim et al [56], initially the MRs send their CoAs to their respective HAs. Packets sent from CN are thus encapsulated by the HAs; MRs decapsulate the packets, and send BUs to the source of decapsulated packets.…”

“…Perera et al [16] discuss different implementation designs and issues for network mobility, including NEMO BSP. Kim et al [12] proposed route optimization to reduce latency and Ryu et al [18] proposed improved handover technique for NEMO BSP. A secured, spoofing-proof extension of NEMO BSP is proposed by Kim and Chae [13].…”
