Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive within a year of regular unprotected intercourse affecting one in six couples. The most common causes of infertility are ovulatory dysfunction, male factor infertility, and tubal disease [1]. Unexplained Infertility (UI) and Recurrent Implantation Failure (RIF) are diagnoses based on failed pregnancy attempts with current infertility treatment options. UI is diagnosed when testing is inconclusive and RIF is diagnosed after three failed In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) cycles. UI is the absence of conception despite 12 months of unprotected intercourse, not explained by anovulation, poor sperm quality, tubal pathology or other known cause of infertility. RIF is defined by three failed IVF cycles in which one or two high-quality embryos are transferred in each cycle or by two failures in oocyte donor recipients after the transfer of good quality embryos [1]. UI is a common cause of infertility affecting 10-30% of infertile couples [2], while RIF is present in around 10% of in vitro fertilization (IVF) cycles [3].

“…Controls were immunized with SE and after 1 day were subcutaneously injected with 0.5 ml isotonic NaCl in a volume equivalent to the volume of cholinergic substances solutions in experimental groups. The immunity parameters were evaluated by common methods of experimental immunotoxicology [2][3][4]6]. Experiments on outbred albino rats showed that administration of acetylcholine and aceclidine in a dose of 0.1 LD 50 for 3 days and of dimethyl dichlorovinyl phosphate (organophosphorus compound) in a single dose of 0.05 LD 50 stimulated the function of Th1 and Th2 lymphocytes and cytokine production by these cells. Dimethyl dichlorovinyl phosphate in a single dose of 0.5 LD 50 produced an opposite effect. Acetylcholine and aceclidine stimulated activity of acetylcholinesterase in T cells, while dimethyl dichlorovinyl phosphate in a single dose of 0.5 LD 50 inhibited it. During acute intoxication, the organophosphorus compound, depending on the dose, can stimulate (acetylcholine effect) and inhibit the immune reactions (acetylcholinesterase inhibition of T cells).

Quantitative changes in different cytokines were determined in serum of female Wistar rats exposed to Rhodium (III) chloride hydrate to evaluate its early effects on the immune system. Findings revealed an inhibitory effect of Rh salt since each cytokine, with the exceptions of IL-1α and IL-2 levels observed at the highest doses of exposure, was reduced compared to the controls and interestingly, the lowest doses induced the greatest inhibition. This generalized decrease of cytokine levels was not related to a specific cytokine pathway, and may suggest an anti-inflammatory role of Rh salt.
