Risk-Based Methodology for Determining Priority Directions for Improving Occupational Safety in the Mining Industry of the Arctic Zone

Abstract: Over the past 10 years, the mining industry of Russia has seen a greater than three-fold decrease in injury rates, thanks to the successful implementation of innovative labor safety technologies. Despite this, injury levels remain unacceptably high compared to the leading mining countries, which results in increased mining costs. For the mining areas of the Arctic Zone—unlike other regions located in areas with a more favorable climate—the injury rates are influenced not only by the underground labor condition… Show more

“…In central Yakutia, the depth of seasonal thawing has reached 80 cm over the past 28 years [2]. For the Russian Federation, the problem of permafrost degradation is of particular concern because a lot of the country's mineral and hydrocarbon resources are located in the Arctic zone [3,4]. Permafrost degradation puts buildings and engineering structures under threat, as evidenced by emergencies that have occurred in recent times [5][6][7].…”

“…1) [10]. Данный процесс негативно влияет на эксплуатационную надежность трубопровода и может привести к аварии, что в свою очередь негативно скажется на окружающей среде и приведёт к большим потерям сырья [11][12][13][14][15]. Появляется задача повышения эксплуатационной надежности магистральных трубопроводов, проложенных на многолетнемерзлых грунтах.…”
