RETRACTED: Reliability analysis of mechanical components based on a nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation model

Abstract: The dynamic reliability models of mechanical components with the failure mode of fatigue are mainly based on the linear damage accumulation theory, which is also called the Miner’s rule. But the Miner’s rule has some drawbacks and results in the disagreement between the predicted and experimental value. In this paper, a dynamic reliability model is presented based on a nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation model. First, a modified nonlinear fatigue damage accumulation model based on the Manson–Halford theory i… Show more

“…Assuming that the damage caused by cycling n 12 times under the action of S 2 is the same as the damage caused by cycling n 1 times under the action of stress level S 1 , that is, D 1 = D 2 0 . The relationship between the cycle ratio n 1 =N f 1 and the equivalent cycle ratio n 12 =N f 2 can be expressed by formula (18).…”

“…With the development of fatigue cumulative damage theory, nonlinear fatigue cumulative damage theory is also widely used in fatigue life estimation. [17][18][19] According to the existing research, non-linear damage theory can be divided into three categories: non-linear cumulative damage theory considering the interaction between loads; 20,21 Nonlinear cumulative damage model based on damage curve method (Marco-Starkey model, 22 etc. ); Non-linear cumulative damage based on energy.…”

“…In order to make up for the deficiencies of Miner's rule, much effort has been made to simulate the nonlinear fatigue damage process, including energy‐based methods, 13,14 damage curve approaches, 15–17 continuum damage mechanics–based approaches, 18–23 fatigue driving stress approach, 24 static toughness exhaustion models, 25–27 and S‐N curve‐based models 28,29 . Especially, Rege and Pavlou 30 proposed a cumulative fatigue damage model based on the concept of isodamage curves, which is described using one parameter and S‐N curve of the material.…”
