Objective: to compare the quality of the Nursing process documentation in two versions of a clinical decision support system. Method: a quantitative and quasi-experimental study of the before-and-after type. The instrument used to measure the quality of the records was the Brazilian version of the Quality of Diagnoses, Interventions and Outcomes, which has four domains and a maximum score of 58 points. A total of 81 records were evaluated in version I (pre-intervention), as well as 58 records in version II (post-intervention), and the scores obtained in the two applications were compared. The interventions consisted of planning, pilot implementation of version II of the system, training and monitoring of users. The data were analyzed in the R software, using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: the mean obtained at the pre-intervention moment was 38.24 and, after the intervention, 46.35 points. There was evidence of statistical difference between the means of the pre- and post-intervention groups, since the p-value was below 0.001 in the four domains evaluated. Conclusion: the quality of the documentation of the Nursing process in version II of the system was superior to version I. The efficacy of the system and the effectiveness of the interventions were verified. This study can contribute to the quality of documentation, care management, visibility of nursing actions and patient safety.

Objective To analyze the standardized nursing languages in orthopedics from the perspective of the Nursing Role Effectiveness Model. Method Mixed method research carried out in a hospital in southern Brazil between April 2016 and February 2017. Quantitative data were collected from 85 orthopedic patients using the NANDA-International, Nursing Interventions and Outcomes, and submitted to statistical analysis. Qualitative data were collected through interviews with 10 nurses and were analyzed using content analysis. Results Acute pain (96%) was a prevalent nursing diagnosis. Fall Prevention (33.3%) was the most prescribed intervention. Pain Level, Body Positioning: self-initiated and Mobility showed an increase in outcome scores (p<0.001). In the interviews, nurses indicated that priority diagnoses and nursing interventions contributed to improving mobility outcomes. Conclusion The findings revealed that the focus of Standardized Nursing Languages in orthopedics from the perspective of the Nursing Role Effectiveness Model lies in the context of mobility, but it needs improvements in diagnostic accuracy and electronic health record.

Validity of Nursing Outcomes Classification health promotion behavior scale in college students

Objective: to verify the reliability and validity of the health promotion behavior scale, of the Nursing Outcomes Classification, in university students. Method: methodological study carried out with 324 university students from a federal institution, based in a city in the Northeast of Brazil. Internal consistency was verified using Cronbach’s alpha and item-total correlation. Validity was performed through exploratory factor analysis via main components. Results: the scale showed a Cronbach’s alpha of 0.83, showing good reliability. The item-total correlations remained above 0.3 for most items, only items 01, 13, 19 and 20 were below this mark. In the exploratory factor analysis, two components were extracted whose variances explained 44.54% of the instrument’s composition. Conclusion: the health promotion behavior scale showed good reliability and validity, demonstrating that it can be applied to the population of university students.
