Response surface method was used to optimize the ultrasonic assisted extraction of flavonoids from Crinum asiaticum

Abstract: In this study, ultrasound-assisted extraction of flavonoid from Crinum asiaticum was studied through response surface methodology (RSM) to gain the best extraction process of flavonoid and enhance the extraction rate of flavonoid. In the following RSM experiment, we selected the corresponding data of every factor as the center point through the single-factor experiments, then the experimental data was subjected to multiple regression analysis. According to the statistical analysis results, the results were con… Show more

“…The nature of the extracting agent (solvent) will affect the type of flavonoid extracted and will directly influence the biological activity of the recovered compounds. Of the solvents tested, ethanol and methanol are the most widely used for the extraction of flavonoids due to higher yields achieved in the recovery of flavonoids [43,44]. The high demand for antioxidants gave way to the search for methodological alternatives that would increase the yield of flavonoid extraction and reduce process costs.…”

“…According to the single-factor study, the Box-Benhnken optimization study was designed ( Yu et al, 2019 ) with three levels (adsorption time, temperature, and pH). The adsorption ratio was chosen as inspection index.…”

“…This method is widely used to find levels of predictors that are thought to optimize the responses being studied. The advantage of the response surface method is that it does not require too much data so that the optimum response conditions can be obtained in not too long and the costs are minimum (Yu et al, 2019). In addition to the first-order modeling experiment, in conditions where the predictor is close to the response, the use of the second-order model is widely applied to approach the response state because of the curvature in its surface (Ajala et al, 2017).…”

“…Modeling in the response surface method uses the function of the second-order model because it is better at solving problems in the response surface. The response surface model for the second order is stated by (Yu et al, 2019).…”
