The purposes of this research were (a) to explore and describe the relationships relative to the evaluation of the work of the organizers, expected legacy, and support for hosting the 2014 World Cup (WC) and the 2016 Olympic Games (OG); and (b) to compare Brazilians' support for these two events. Social exchange theory (Blau & Scott, 1962) supported three structural models. Results indicated that Brazilians college students (n = 914) do not strongly support the country's hosting of either the 2014 WC or the 2016 OG. They also do not believe the organizers adequately prepared the country to host the events, and, subsequently, do not have high positive legacy expectations. Mediated models indicated that higher perceptions of the work of the organizersin preparation for the sport mega-events predicted more positive legacy expectations of these events, and subsequently, larger intentions to support the events. Significant indirect effects indicated that a fully mediated model might be useful to describe relationships among intentions of support, expected legacy, and evaluations of the work of the organizers in preparing to host sport mega-events. Implications for theory and practice are discussed.

The impact of and reaction to the disruption on transport created by mega-events on host communities and, in particular, businesses, is an underresearched area. Utilizing social exchange theory, this article examines the relationship between businesses and transport authorities in the implementation of the Travel Demand Management (TDM) strategy for the London Olympics 2012. This research identifies the mechanisms by which the authorities meet the specific antecedent conditions that impact on the exchange. This research is unusual as a qualitative approach is used to gain in-depth understanding of the impacts of mega-events on business and their attitudes to these antecedents. The theoretical contribution of this study is a model that depicts the decision-making processes by which businesses evaluate the exchange relationship. Results identify that there is a link between business typology, antecedent, and the level of engagement. The practical implications of the results and the limitations of the study are discussed with reference to future mega-events and research possibilities.

GİRİŞTurizm, yarattığı gelir getirici etkisi nedeniyle ül-kelerin çok önem verdiği ve her geçen gün de bu önemi arttırdığı sektörlerin başında gelmektedir. Bu sektörün gelişmesine katkıda bulunan etkinliklerin başında da sportif etkinlikler bulunmaktadır. Önemli spor organizasyonları, pazarlanabilen ve yönetilebilen, gerçek anlamıyla büyük etkinliklerdir (Nauright vd. 2013 ABSTRACTBecause of its income and promotional effect, countries overemphasize one of the sporting events, Olympics, which contribute to the development of not only the sports activities but also the tourism industry. For becoming wide and increasing these contributions, it can be useful to test the residents' perceptions towards the impacts of mega events like Olympic Games. The purpose of this study was to identify the Olympics Impacts Scale's (Zhou and Ap 2009) reliability and validity. The sample of the study was composed of 220 volunteered Erzurum residents whose age was between 18-60 years. Sample size was formulated with power analyze method to design research group of the study. Meanwhile, the language equivalence and test-retest correlation coefficients were estimated. After exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis, the scale comprised 20 items and 3 factors. In summary, results revealed that Turkish version of Olympics Impacts Scale can be used as a reliable and valid scale to measure and evaluate residents' perceptions towards the Olympic Games.
