Research progress in the mining technology of the slowly inclined, thin to medium thick phosphate rock transition from open-pit to underground mine

Abstract: This paper takes the deep ore body of Yunnan Phosphate Group Co. Ltd, the largest open-pit chemical mining enterprise in China, as the research background, and systematically introduces the technical problems recognised by many Chinese researchers in the past eight years on the open-pit to underground mining of gently inclined thin to medium-thick ore bodies with a soft interlayer. It shows that the mining of open-pit transferred to underground is a complex engineering system, and the underground stope surroun… Show more

“…For each parameter, the average of the measurements was taken as the standard value (Table 1). Regarding θ s , θ r , and α G , this study determined the parameters for the Gardner model (used in TRIGRS) based on the Van Genuchten model (Van Genuchten, 1980) for SWCC of typical soil types in Guizhou province (Zhao, 2021). The volumetric water contents were the same in the two models for each soil type, and α G was fitted to be within the limits of the Van Genuchten curves, as suggested by Marin (2020).…”

“…The inclination angle of this type of ore body is mostly 5~30 • , which is not conducive to the normal operation of trackless mining equipment such as intelligent scrapers, nor to ore-drawing under gravity of blasted ore in the stope. It is internationally recognized as the most difficult type of ore body to mine [1][2][3]. Open stoping is commonly used in the world to mine gently inclined medium-thick ore bodies [4], and its mining structural parameters are the most important indicators for balancing safe, economic and efficient recovery.…”

“…With the continuous progress of society, the demand for mineral resources around the world continuously increases. The shallow resources are gradually exhausted, and open-pit mining gradually transits to underground mining [ 1 , 2 ]. Underground mining will inevitably lead to a large number of goaf in the strata, which is the main cause of rock instability and safety accidents.…”

“…When calcium ions are added externally, calcium carbonate precipitates are formed in the environment. The reaction equation is shown in (1)(2)(3)(4)(5)(6). The mechanism of the MICP technique based on urea hydrolysis is relatively simple and a large amount of calcium carbonate is precipitated within a short period.…”
