Research on the Dynamic Response Properties of Nonlethal Projectiles for Injury Risk Assessment

Abstract: Based on the models already on the market, we have manufactured six types of nonlethal projectiles. We have made convex heads out of polyurethane foam (PUR) filled with mineral fillers like alumina (Al2O3) and montmorillonite (MMT). We chose a suitable holder for nonlethal projectiles. Also, we made a custom industrial model and used CAD modeling in SolidWorks to simulate the deformation of the nonlethal projectiles. The polymeric nonlethal projectile holders were then 3D-printed. We performed a dynamic mechan… Show more

“…Chemical post-processing, on the other hand, relies on the solubility of polymers in specific solvents to smooth the surface through a dissolution and redeposition mechanism [20,21]. Solvent vapor smoothing and chemical etching are two common examples of chemical post-processing that have been shown to significantly improve the surface finish of FDM-printed parts [22,23]. However, the use of hazardous solvents and the potential for material degradation remain major concerns.…”

“…The elastomeric touchpad has a factor of linearity and stiffness in the contact area. In another function [6], the application of the contact platform was designed by nonlinear or linear contact hardness, and the effect varied [7]. The models can be analyzed to provide only the load pressure for various heights.…”
