Removal of Cr(VI) from Aqueous Solutions Using Amino‐Functionalized Carbon Nanospheres Adsorbents

Abstract: Carbon nanospheres were prepared and functionalized with carboxyl acid groups (CNS-CA), then reacted with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane to introduce amino groups onto the surface (CNS-NH 2 ) by post-synthesis grafting. CNS-NH 2 was acidified in order to convert the amino groups (-NH 2 ) into ammonium moieties (ÀNH þ 3 ). Various techniques such as N 2 physisorption, X-ray diffraction, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and transmissio… Show more

“…The two broad di®raction peaks at 23 and 43 correspond to (002) di®raction of amorphous carbon and (100) di®raction of graphitized carbon, respectively. 35,36 Additionally, Raman spectra were carried to further con¯rm the structure of as-prepared samples as shown in Fig. 3(b), in which the observed two distinctive peaks at about 1380 cm À1 and 1660 cm À1 are attributed to the D band (the disorder or defects in the graphite structure) and the G band (the graphitic order), respectively.…”
