Remarkable lignin degradation in paper wastewaters over Fe2O3/γ-Al2O3 catalysts using the catalytic wet peroxide oxidation method

Abstract: Heterogeneous catalytic wet peroxide oxidation (CWPO) has been found to be one of the most effective approaches for the degradation of toxic and biore factory wastewater.

“…Therefore, catalyst and UV light are required for photocatalytic degradation. The yield of photocatalytic degradation and reduction of COD was high at the catalyst dosage of 0.6 g L À1 , H 2 O 2 dosage of 30 mg L À1 , a pH of 3.5, and time of contact of 45 min compared with the recent literature (Ma et al, 2008;Marques et al, 2017;Merayo et al, 2013;Nogueira et al, 2017;Rodrigues et al, 2008;Subramonian et al, 2017b;Wu et al, 2017). For example, the dosage of catalyst (1.3 g L À1 ) and contact time (3 h) were used for the photocatalytic degradation of industrial pulp and paper mill effluent (Subramonian et al, 2017b) in the presence of the synthesized magnetic Fe 2 O 3 @TiO 2 .…”
