A specific assessment tool is urgently needed to guide effective wound care for diabetic foot ulcers. However, the tool has not been available in Chinese. We aimed to culturally translate and verify the validity and reliability of the new Diabetic Foot Ulcer Assessment Scale (DFUAS). The original scale was translated into Chinese according to the Brislin guidelines. Patients satisfying the inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited. Each of the included foot ulcers was evaluated independently by two wound care specialists using the new DFUAS and by the third wound care specialists at the same time using the Bates‐Jensen Wound Assessment Tool according to per guidelines. 210 diabetic foot ulcers were included for data analysis. The S‐CVI of the Chinese version of the DFUAS was 0.96, and the I‐CVIs ranged from 0.89 to 0.98. The total Cronbach's Alpha of the scale was 0.709, and the corrected item‐total correlation of the items ranged from 0.4 to 0.872. The DFUAS had high inter‐observer reliability of 0.997, and there were weak, moderate, and strong correlations between each pair of the items. The Bland–Altman plots showed a good agreement between the scale and the Bates‐Jensen Wound Assessment Tool. We concluded that the Chinese version of the DFUAS showed good validity and reliability and is a reliable instrument for the assessment of diabetic foot ulcers.

Background Burn injuries are one of the most common sources of trauma globally that comprise a significant drain on long-term personal and healthcare cost Large surface area burn wounds are difficult to manage and may result in significant physiologic and psychological sequelae . The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of Aloe Vera gel with Nitrofurazone ointment in the healing of superficial second-degree burn wounds.Methods The present study was a split body controlled, randomized clinical trial. The sample was recruited from patients with superficial second-degree burn wound who were prescribed to treat with 2% Nitrofurazone ointment. Thirty patients with at least two burn, each burn on an alternate side of the body, entered the study — samples allocated to two groups which received Aloe Vera gel or 2% Nitrofurazone ointment on their burns. Bates-Jensen Wound assessment tool (BWAT) was used to evaluate the healing of burns. The burns were evaluated before, one, two and three weeks after the beginning of treatment.Results The mean ± SD of BWAT scores in Aloe Vera zones were 30.32 ± 3.28, 27.33 ± 3.38, 21.33 ± 3.13, 16.12 ± 2.16 respectively (F(2, 65.07) =440.00, p=0.001). The mean ± SD of BWAT scores in Nitrofurazone ointment zones were 30.51 ± 3.79, 28.45 ± 3.49, 23.36 ± 2.89, 19.23 ± 2.11 (F(1, 52.00) =228.00, p=0.001).Conclusions There is a significant difference in (BWAT) scores between intervention and control groups. Aloe Vera gel was as effective as Nitrofurazone ointment in the treatment of superficial second-degree burns.Trial registration IRCT2014113020151N1. Veteriner klinikleri ve hayvan hastanelerinin hasta sahiplerine ait beklentileri en üst düzeyde karşılamaları ve memnuniyet düzeylerini artırmaları hayvan sağlığı hizmeti veren kurumların kârlılık, verimlilik ve sürdürülebilirliğinde önemli bir rol oynamaktadır. Bu kapsamda çalışmada amaç, hasta sahiplerinin memnuniyeti konusunda bir ölçme aracı geliştirmek ve bu ölçme aracının geçerlilik ve güvenirlik çalışmasının yapılmasıdır. Çalışmada Hasta Sahibi Memnuniyet Kriterleri Ölçeği (HSMK-Ö), Hasta Sahibi Memnuniyet Değerlendirme Ölçeği-Acil (HSMD-A), Veteriner Klinik Hizmet Memnuniyeti Ölçeği (VKHM-Ö) ölçme araçlarının yapı geçerliliği yapılmıştır. Çalışmaya başlamadan önce yapılan güç analizi (%80.121 güçle) sonucu belirlenen, 212 hasta sahibine uygulanmıştır. Yapı geçerliliği için; güvenirlik analizlerinde Cronbach Alfa (  ) katsayısı kullanılmıştır. Geçerlik analizi için faktör analizi uygulanmıştır. HSMK-Ö; HSMD-A; VKHM-Ö maddeleri Varimax döndürme yöntemi sonucunda tek faktörlü bir yapı olarak belirlenmiştir. Geliştirilen ölçeklerde HSMK-Ö'de 14 madde, HSMD-A'da 8 madde, VKHM-Ö'de 18 madde için hesaplanan Cronbach Alfa (  ) güvenilirliği katsayıları sırasıyla 0.759; 0.936; 0.778 çıkmıştır. Açıklanan toplam varyans incelendiğinde HSMK-Ö ve VKHM-Ö'de 4, HSMD-A'da tek faktörün bulunduğu ve bu ölçülen özelliğin her ölçek için sırasıyla %58.06; %61.375; %70.39' unun ölçüldüğü söylenebilir. HSMK-Ö, HSMD-A ve VKHM-Ö ölçme araçlarının geçerli ve güvenilir olduğu söylenebilir.
