“…4) was used to measure the directional parameters consisting of the LFD index of orientation along 12 directions starting with 0°, and then in steps of 15°up to 165°. Previous studies showed that the directional parameters are less connected to osteoporosis than the geometrical and topological parameters (32,36,37). “…The films were manually developed for 4.5 min at 20°C in Kodak Dental Developer, fixed in Kodak Dental Fixing solution for 10 min, and rinsed for 15 min in water at 18.5"C. First, one series of radiographs was taken from all 14 slices; then a second series of radiographs was made (12) to provide details. Also black and white photographs were taken from both sides of the midsagittal slices.…”

“…To ensure reliable assessments, all radiographs (2X 14) and photographs (2X 14) were placed under the CCD videocamera by a single operator and were digitized twice without repositioning. Next, the procedure described above was used to make a second, third and fourth series of replications (12). Thus for each midsagittal slice, 16 radiographic digital images (2 radiographsX2 timesX4 series) and 16 photographic digital images (2 photographsx2 times X4 series) were available after this operation.…”

“…The strength of bone is determined by various factors, and bone mineral content and microarchitecture play a central role (10,12,18). Osteoporosis is the most common skeletal disease and has an incidence of 15%.…”
