Recent developments in capillary electrophoresis and capillary electrochromatography of peptides

Abstract: The article gives a comprehensive review on the recent developments in the applications of high-performance capillary electromigration methods, zone electrophoresis, isotachophoresis, isoelectric focusing, affinity electrophoresis, electrokinetic chromatography, and electrochromatography, to analysis, preparation, and physicochemical characterization of peptides. The article presents new approaches to the theoretical description and experimental verification of electromigration behavior of peptides, covers the… Show more

“…One of the ways to overcome this drawback and to obtain reliable analyses is the deactivation of the capillary wall by means of different coatings, either dynamic or permanent, as extensively reviewed [22]. Additives to the BGE such as CTAB have already found application in metallodrug-protein binding studies in order to enhance the quality of separation [11], but dynamic noncovalent coatings with Polybrene (PB) or similar polymers have also been widely applied in CE of peptides and proteins [23,24]. The advantage of coating with PB lies in the fact that no additives have to be added to the BGE, which therefore reduces the complexity of the system.…”
