Real-Time Framework for Energy Management System of a Smart Microgrid Using Multiagent Systems

Abstract: This paper presents a framework to analyze the problem of real-time management of Smart Grids. For this purpose, the energy management is integrated with the power system through a telecommunication system. The use of Multiagent Systems (MAS) leads the proposed algorithm to find the best-integrated solution, taking into consideration the operating scenario and the system characteristics. With this framework it was possible to evaluate the design of the energy management and the impact of the algorithm develope… Show more

“…The EMS ensures the monitoring, control and diagnosis of the microgrid, provides control and management of generators and prevents plant shut down in case of faults of the electrical network [20][21][22]. Both the grid-connected and islanded operation have to be considered by the EMS.…”

“…Therefore, challenges in managing a multi-agent system have been extensively studied with the proposal of a variety of approaches and algorithms [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8] which are applicable to a multiplicity of systems ranging from military operations to resource distribution [2,6,[8][9][10]. One notable approach is the introduction of game-theoretic framework in multi-agent systems.…”
