ABSTRACT ABSTRACT ABSTRACT This study aimed at understanding the main needs of prostitute's life activities that work in Fortaleza,CE, Brazil. Study of qualitative approach conducted with six prostitutes who had previously identified changes on gynecological consultation of nursing. The Model of Life Activity was used as the theoretical mark and a semi-structured interview, with a focus in life activities that showed changes. The interviews were conducted on September and October 2007, in the work places of prostitutes. The results showed the main vulnerabilities and events decisive for the maintenance for prostitute's life quality. The used model facilitated the holistic approach of caring, showing it is capable of being adapted to the various people attended. RESUMEN RESUMEN RESUMEN RESUMEN RESUMEN La investigación tuvo como objetivo comprender las principales necesidades en las actividades de la vida de prostitutas actuantes en Fortaleza,CE, brasil. Investigación cualitativa con seis prostitutas que presentaron alteraciones previamente identificadas en la consulta de enfermería en ginecología. Fué utilizado el Modelo de Actividades de Vida como teórico referencial y entrevistas semiestructurada con enfoque en las actividades de vida alteradas. Las entrevistas ocurrieran en septiembre y octubre de 2007 en los sitios de trabajo de las prostitutas. Los resultados evidenciaran las principales vulnerabilidades e intercorrências decisivas para el mantenimiento de la calidad de vida de las prostitutas. El modelo usado facilitó un cuidado holístico y se reveló capaz de ser adaptado a diversas poblaciones.
Objective: Identifying the contribution of developed research on what motivates women to induce an abortion and the meaning attributed to these experiences in their lives. Method: An integrative review conducted in MEDLINE/PubMed, LILACS, BDENF, CINAHL and SciELO databases, covering the periods from 2001 to 2011. Results: We selected and analyzed 11 studies with selection criteria being reasons given by women for inducing abortion and/or the meaning attributed to this experience in their lives, including social, religious, ethical and moral aspects related to this practice, as well as the suffering experienced from the experience. The illegality of abortion is identified as a risk factor for unsafe abortions, reaffirming this issue as a public health and social justice problem. Conclusion: Results evidence aspects that can contribute to improving health quality and ratify the importance of research to support nursing practices.
