“…A number of reports have been published recently on that subject for maize (Ahmadi et al, 2015), sorghum (Araya et al, 2016), winter wheat (Xiangxiang et al, 2013), potato (Montoya et al, 2016), and soybean (Adeboye et al, 2017). Beyond the plot scale, AquaCrop has been used for economic optimization at the farm scale (García-Vila and Fereres, 2012), for yield gap analyses (Nyakudya and Stroosnijder, 2014;Angella et al, 2016), and for yield prediction in climate change scenarios (Vanuytrecht et al, 2016;Yang et al, 2017).…”

“…A RIS of 0.5 clearly indicated under‐irrigation, although it is worth noting that in both our study and Prieto's (2006), the crop water requirements were computed using standard crop coefficients (that assume potential crop growth). However, in irrigation districts with a relatively large performance gap (such as the SRRD, Angella et al ., 2016), crops usually grow below their potential, thus their crop water requirements are also below it (Salgado & Mateos, 2021). Therefore, it could be concluded that irrigation water usage in the SRRD has been progressively rationalized irrespectively of whether its management has been transferred or not.…”

“…The PIs were applied in Africa (Ahmad, Haie, Yen, & Tuqan, 2018; Al Zayed et al, 2015), Asia (Chandran & Ambili, 2016; Rowshon et al, 2014), Europe (Andrés & Cuchí, 2014; Gadanakis et al, 2015; Merchán et al, 2015), Middle‐east (Yigezu et al, 2013), North America (Haie & Keller, 2012; Lecina et al, 2011) and South America (Ahadi et al, 2013; Angella et al, 2016). The geographical coverage of the publications is presented in Figure 11.…”
