QoE Assessment of Fairness between Players in Networked Virtual 3D Objects Identification Game Using Haptic, Olfactory, and Auditory Senses

Abstract: In this paper, we carry out QoE (Quality of Experience) assessment to investigate influences of olfactory and auditory senses on fairness for a networked virtual 3D object identification game with haptics. In the game, two players try to identify objects which are placed in a shared 3D virtual space. In the assessment, we carry out the game in four cases. Smells and sounds are presented in the first case, only sounds are done in the second case, and only smells are done in the third case. In the last case, we … Show more

“…In [23], the Virtual Time Rendering (VTR) algorithm, which provides support for intra-and inter-media sync, is extended to provide support for IDMS in Content on Demand (CoD) services. Since then, the VTR algorithm has been extended and improved to adopt different communication models, and to add support for other use cases in a variety of scenarios, such as live conferencing [24], networked games and multi-sensory 3D virtual environments [25].…”

“…The conclusion of this paper is that E2E QoE assurance in an NGN still needs to address many research issues, and will receive intense research attention from both academia and industry, driven by the strong desire to generate revenues and increase the competitiveness of service providers. In [20] the authors presenting a game that relate the olfactory and auditory senses to investigate the influences of them on fairness for a networked virtual 3D object identification game with haptics using subjective test as the assessment for this investigation. In this game they present four scenarios to identify objects which are placed in a shared 3D virtual space, employing two players.…”
