QFD 3D: a new C-shaped matrix diagram quality approach

Abstract: Purpose – Quality function deployment (QFD) is a worldwide-known, design for quality approach, which gathers several design quality methods. Among them, the House of Quality (HoQ) correlates the Voice of Customer and the Voice of Company thanks to L-shaped (2D) Matrix Diagrams (MDs). This paper theorizes, as logically possible, the extension from a bi-dimensional representation (a customer and a provider) to a higher N-dimensional representational freedom without altering the typical QFD’s cust… Show more

“…Also, to prioritise ‘Hows,’ the importance rating of each row was multiplied by the assigned weight of the interrelationship matrix in the corresponding column, and then the multiplied values were summed for each column at the bottom of HoEI. A three-point scale was assumed for the interrelationships, that is 9 as strong, 3 as moderate and 1 as weak (Vezzetti et al , 2016); 15 experts (first study population) weighted the interrelationships and, finally, the values were entered into the cells of the matrix using the most frequent rule. The results of the first HoEI indicated that among the four sub-determinants of ‘operations’, the fourth and second sub-determinants (i.e.…”

“…The first row and column contains the elements to be examined, the other cells contain symbols or numbers indicating the presence and strength of relationship. It is suggested that the columns should be the main causes of the problem, and the lines -possible means of eliminating these causes [6].…”
