“…It was interesting to note that a greater number of factors emerged from studies conducted outside of the United States (Ashktorab et al, 2017; Baumstarck et al, 2017; Kimemia et al, 2011; Mohanraj et al, 2015; Monzani et al, 2015; Pozzi et al, 2015; Tang et al, 2016). This finding further underscores the need to assess the sociocultural dimensions of dispositional coping in future studies.…”

“…Within the last 10 years, almost 50 studies have used EFA, principal component analysis (PCA), or confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) to establish the factor structure of the Brief COPE or to determine if a more parsimonious, hierarchical factor structure could be identified. The number of factors yielded have ranged from two in eight different studies (Bautista et al, 2013; Bean et al, 2009; Eisenberg et al, 2012; Hagan et al, 2017; Hooper et al, 2013; Liu et al, 2009; Mugavero et al, 2009; Ruiz et al, 2015) to fourteen in three studies (Ashktorab et al, 2017; García et al, 2018; Monzani et al, 2015). However, not all authors clearly identified which version of the Brief COPE (situational or dispositional) they used, which could contribute to inconsistent results.…”

“…The 14 subscales comprise self‐distraction, active coping, denial, substance use, use of emotional support, use of instrumental support, behavioural disengagement, venting, positive reframing, planning, humour, acceptance, religion and self‐blame. The Persian version of Brief COPE was used previously as a valid and reliable scale in Iranian veterans (Aflakseir, 2010) and spouses of patients under haemodialysis (Ashktorab et al., 2017).…”

“…To measure goodness of fit of the model, relative χ2, goodness of fit index (GFI), normed fit index (IFT), comparative fitindex (CFI), incremental fit index (IFI), non-normed fit index (NNFI), standardized root mean square residual (SRMR), and root mean square error of approximation (RMSEA) were used. Table 5 lists the acceptable values and fit levels of all the indices; clearly general goodness of fit of the model is supported (25,27,28).…”
