| Background: Disability retirement, an outcome of permanent incapacity for work, represents 14.5% of pensions granted by the Brazilian National Social Security Institute. However, there are no data available for civil servants. Objective: To describe the epidemiological profile of disability retirement among employees of Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (FIOCRUZ) in the period from 2012 to 2016. Methods: Cross-sectional study in which we analyzed the following variables: age, sex, total working time, years of work at FIOCRUZ, position and reason for retirement as per ICD-10 codes. The significance level was set to p=0.05 and all the data are presented with 95% confidence interval. Results: The prevalence of disability retirement in the analyzed period was 113/10,000 employees. Employees granted disability retirement benefits worked about 9 years less. Odds for disability were higher for technicians (prevalence ratio-PR=6.83) and technical assistants (PR=7.67). Mental and behavioral disorders were the main reason for disability retirement (38.71%). Conclusion: Noncommunicable diseases are the main cause of disability retirement. We call the attention to the need to revise the legislation that establishes mandatory retirement after 24 months of sick leave. An interdisciplinary occupational health surveillance approach is necessary to obtain accurate knowledge of the actual situation in workplaces and of the impacts of work processes.

I propose a general metatheoretical model of the human psyche, which starts from the relationship of human consciousness within its space and time, and in terms of the relationship between subjectivity and objectivity. It is based on a temporal scheme of the psyche and the concept of “lifeworld” of phenomenology (Husserl and others) and its three components and respective phenomenological horizons, and complemented by the concept of communicative action (Habermas, Buber). From these, a three-dimensional model of the psyche is established, in which the three axes are as follows: subjective human time: PAST–PRESENT–FUTURE, intersubjective psychosocial space: ME–OTHERS, and objective biopsychological space: BODY–ENVIRONMENT. These axes, whose intersection represents the conscious presence, comprise the experiential field. Many theoretical fields of empirical psychology can be distinctly defined by the poles, always departing from the phenomenological experience of these regions. Also, from the graphic representation developed, the experiential field can be a model to be presented to scholars from other professional areas besides psychology, emphasizing the psychosocial space for applied social sciences and the biopsychological space for health sciences.

Este livro busca problematizar a constituição das docências nas narrativas de um grupo de professoras a partir das suas experiências de cuidado de si. Os referenciais teóricos abrangem discussões em torno da noção de cuidado de si, experiência e docências. O estudo contou com a participação de seis professoras de duas escolas públicas localizadas na região do Vale do Rio Pardo, no estado do Rio Grande do Sul, focalizando os anos iniciais do ensino fundamental e a educação especial. Mediante as problematizações do estudo, evidenciou-se que as aprendizagens, constituídas por este grupo de professoras, podem ser tensionadas nas suas verdades tendo em vista que prescrevem uma forma de constituir docências.
