Progress in the Synthesis and Reaction of Azafullerene

Abstract: Azafullerene is a very important compound in fullerene family, which has been attracted extensive attention recently because of its unique structure and reactive activities. Recent progress in the preparation and reaction of azafullerene is summarized in this paper. There are three main methods for the synthesis of azafullerene (Wudl's method, Hirsch's method and Gan's method). Azafullerene reactions include free radical reactions and electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. Keywords fullerene; carbon-car… Show more

“…9 In recent years, DHPMs and their derivatives have received much attention because they exhibited diverse biological and pharmacological properties such as calcium channel blockers, anti-HIV and anti-hypertensive, etc. [10][11][12][13] Therefore, several methods have been reported for the preparation of DHPMs using various catalysts such as Fe3O4, 14 Ti, 15 HClO4-SiO2 16 and H3BO3, 17 etc. However, several of these catalysts suffer from some drawbacks such as strong acidic conditions, long reaction times, high reaction temperature and low yields of products.…”
