Profile of Senior High School Metacognitive Ability in Solving Problems of Abstraction on Physics Material

Abstract: This study aims to determine the ability of students’ metacognition in solving abstract problems in physical material. The study involved students who took through the test. Metacognition ability data obtained through written test consisting of questions metacognitive knowledge and metacognition skills. Data analysis is done descriptively. The result of the research shows that declarative knowledge dominates students metacognition knowledge, that is students can recognize the difficult problem and able to inte… Show more

“…There were no participants who performed at least "good" category in metacognitive skills. As the result, the findings of this research were completing the information about the lack of metacognitive skills of Indonesian students as reported in some grades, such as Junior High School [27] and Senior High School [29], [35]. The various understandings about metacognitive concept were obtained through the content analysis to the responses of the participants.…”

“…Some studies focus on the influence of learning model implementation [24], [25] and the development of instrument [22], [26] as well as learning media [27] on … students' metacognition. Besides, some studies concern to profile or distribution level of students' metacognition [28], [29]. Most of the studies involved students as the subjects of research.…”

“…According to Yanti, et al, (2017), the application of metacognition-based learning in physics learning will make it easier for students to solve physics problems. Zimmerman (1989) explains that self-regulation is an individual process to activate and maintain cognition, behavior, and achievement-oriented systematic influence of learners.…”
