There has been a shift in the most recent UK Government's Alcohol Strategy (2012) from personal responsibility towards a model of shared responsibility for young people's drinking. On closer examination of the strategy however, it appears that rather than exonerating young people from blame, governance is merely extended to include wider partners. Using findings from nine focus groups with young people in Liverpool, UK, we explore who they believe are responsible for their drinking behaviours and how they learn to become 'good drinkers'. Our findings show that while teenagers' were aware of dominant alcohol related messages and maintained a moral position as responsible citizens; they also negotiated and resisted norms about teenage drinking. Although both boys and girls agreed that parents were the primary responsible authority for regulating their drinking, there was gendered disagreement about personal responsibility. The girls described how they were ultimately responsible for any adverse consequences if they drank too much whilst the boys considered a wide range of partners who would be implicated. However, unlike the girls, the boys described a willingness to either abstain or moderate their alcohol intake in order to remain in control and avoid any alcohol related trouble or harm.Word Count: 7699 4

Barns ledarskapFör en vidgad vokabulär genom skiftande exempel David Cardell SammanfattningDenna artikel behandlar barns ledarskap. Syftet är att uppmärksamma relationer mellan barn och ledarskap och att vidga vokabulären kring barns ledarskap. Inledningsvis behandlas betydelser av barns ledarskap utifrån forskning som fokuserat på förekomsten av informellt ledarskap inom institutioner som förskola och skola. Här noteras att forskningen ger en begränsad förståelse av barns ledarskap och detta aktualiserar behov av teoretiskt utvecklande studier på området. Föreliggande artikel introducerar variationsrika exempel på barns ledarskap och därigenom öppnas möjligheter till att förstå fenomenet som ett aktuellt, svårgripbart och omtvistat fenomen. I artikeln uppmärksammas betydelser av formellt ledarskap inom idrottsorganisationer jämte populärkulturens Baby-bossen och Tonårsbos-sen. Dessa exempel låter utkristallisera två typer av ledarskap, det ekonomiska respektive det demokratiska. Artikeln aktualiserar avslutningsvis möjligheter till en empiriskt grundad förståelse som låter oss teoretisera barns ledarskap och ledarskap-för-barn i olika sammanhang utifrån diskussioner om agency inom barndomssociologin. Late modern children usually have school experiences from a very young age. Therefore, official educational discourses have the potential to shape their everyday life and subjectivity. The objective of this article is to explore the forms of knowledge that were produced around early childhood and schooling by the two most recent curricula of the Greek pre-school educational system in an era of crisis. In this framework, a discourse analytical approach is proposed which combines Foucauldian with critical discourse analysis. From the analysis, it appears that both curricula actively engage in the discursive struggle for hegemony in society, producing a specific understanding of childhood and schooling. In particular, according to the analysis, both curricula echo a neo-liberal discourse, which could exert a specific ideological power upon young children's subjectivity. However, it was found that the most recent curriculum is even more focused on the neo-liberal ideological project. This conceptual shift could be understood in the current context of the hegemony of the neoliberal ideology in the social field. Moreover, it was found that both curricula contain several child-oriented elements, crafting the image of "the competent child". However, these elements could probably function as a subtle instrument for further achieving the aims of the neo-liberal hegemonic discourse for antagonism and entrepreneurship. As children do not passively receive the content addressed to them, future research on the relationship between representations and subjective experiences is deemed necessary.
