RESUMO.Objetivou-se avaliar a composição bromatológica e a razão folha/haste do estilosantes Campo Grande, em cinco idades de rebrota com e sem adubação fosfatada. Adotou-se o delineamento experimental em blocos ao acaso, com quatro repetições, em esquema fatorial 2 x 5 dois níveis de fósforo (com e sem) e cinco idades de corte (30, 35, 40, 45 e 50 dias). O fósforo foi aplicado como superfosfato simples, equivalente a 50 kg ha -1 de P 2 O 5 . A razão folha/haste (F/H) e os porcentuais de proteína bruta (PB) decresceram com o aumento da idade de rebrota, com e sem adubação fosfatada. A produtividade de proteína bruta (PPB), com adubação fosfatada, foi linear crescente e sem, foi quadrática, decrescendo entre 45 e 50 dias de rebrota. Os porcentuais de matéria seca (MS) e fibra em detergente neutro (FDN) cresceram com o aumento da idade de rebrota. O porcentual da fibra em detergente ácido (FDA) apresentou comportamento quadrático, com decréscimo nas idades de 45 e 50 dias. A adubação fosfatada não tem efeito sobre a razão F/H, PB, MS, FDN e FDA de estilosantes Campo Grande. As idades de rebrota de 30 a 50 dias com ou sem adubação fosfatada têm efeito mínimo sobre a composição bromatológica do estilosantes Campo Grande.Palavras-chave: adubação fosfatada, idade de rebrota, proteína bruta, Stylosanthes.ABSTRACT. Leaf-to-stem ratio and bromatological characteristics of CampoGrande stylo regrowth at five cutting ages. The aim of this research study was to evaluate the bromatological composition and leaf-to-stem ratio of Campo-Grande stylo, at five regrowth ages, with and without phosphorus. The investigation was carried out in a randomized blocks experimental design, with four replications in a 2 x 5 factorial arrangement -two levels of phosphorus (with or without) and five cutting ages (30, 35, 40, 45 and 50 days). Phosphorus was applied as a single superphosphate, equivalent to 50 kg ha -1 P 2 O 5 . The leaf-to-stem ratio (L/S) and the percentage of crude protein (CP) decreased with increasing age of regrowth, with and without phosphorus fertilization. Crude protein yield (CPY) with phosphorus fertilization increased linearly; yield without fertilization was quadratic, decreasing between 45 and 50 days of regrowth. The percentages of dry matter (DM) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF) increased with regrowth age. The percentage of acid detergent fiber (ADF) followed a quadratic trend, decreasing at the ages of 45 and 50 days. Phosphorus fertilization had no effect on L/S, CP, DM, NDF and ADF of CampoGrande stylo. The age of regrowth of 30 and 50 days have minimal effect on the bromatological composition of Campo-Grande stylo.

The genus Cynodon includes a number of grasses cultivars important for dairy farms. Although Cynodon grasses are usually established as single crops, multi-cropping them with legumes can yield important benefits such as significant reduction on fertilizer costs, increased soil fertility and the nutritional value of the forage. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the development, and the botanical and structural components of Coastcross-1 and Tifton 85 pastures cultivated over a period of two years (planting in August 2011, last cut in April 2013) with increasing inclusion of forage peanut (0, 25, 50 and 75% planted area). The experimental design was randomized blocks, with eight treatments (pastures) and split plot (seasons), with three replicates. Measured parameters included forage mass, dry matter accumulation rate, leaf:stem ratio, dead material, and other species and forage peanut mass. The different peanut inclusion rates did not affect the pasture production parameters or the structural composition of the cultivars. With 75% of the area planted with forage peanut, the legumes represented close to 30% of the total mass. The leaf:stem ratio was highest for Tifton 85 in milder daily average temperatures, although, in this situation, both cultivars decreased the forage rate accumulation. Increasing the percentage of area planted with forage peanut also increased the participation of legumes, without interfering with the presence of dead material or other species.

ABSTRACT. Forage supply from herbs was assessed in a thinned Caatinga enriched with buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.) exposed to goat and sheep grazing. The 2.4 ha experimental area, located at the Experimental Station of the Federal University of Campina Grande, in Santa Terezinha, Paraíba State, Brazil, was divided into four 0.6 ha paddocks, which were further subdivided into two 0.3 ha experimental plots. Twelve F1 (Boer x SRD) goats and 12 Santa Inês sheep were divided in four groups of six animals of the same species. The herbaceous vegetation was separated into buffel grass (Cenchrus ciliaris L.), dicotyledons and other grass species. Treatments were randomized to plots according to a completely random design with two treatments, four replications, with measures repeated in time (July/1, Aug/1, Sept/1 and Oct/1. Buffel grass dry mater (DM) availability was higher in the sheep grazed than in the goatgrazed area. Buffel grass DM supply did not change from July to September, while dicotyledons DM supply decreased. Grazing affected availability, accumulation rate and supply of the forage produced (DM basis) by dicotyledonous herbs. Buffel grass forage availability was not affected during the experimental period.
