Preventive effect of flavonoids from Wushan Shencha (Malus doumeri leaves) on CCl4‐induced liver injury

Abstract: Wushan Shencha (Malus doumeri leaf) is a unique tea‐like drink. Herein, the effect of flavonoids from Wushan Shencha (FWSSC) on carbon tetrachloride‐induced liver injury was studied. The serum and liver tissues of experimental mice were analyzed by kits, a slice technique, and qPCR assay. The liver index is a calculated liver‐to‐body weight ratio, and the experimental results showed that FWSSC reduced the liver index of the model group with liver injury, which was the highest. Sections stained with H&E showed … Show more

“…9 Plant avonoids have a strong protective effect against experimental liver injury. [10][11][12] Moreover, most plant avonoids have a strong anti-oxidation effect, as well as anti-liver brosis effects, which can reduce the proliferation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) and collagen synthesis or inhibit the activation of HSCs to prevent liver brosis. 13 Carbon tetrachloride is a common chemical that induces liver injury in laboratory animals.…”

“…Then, the cDNA template (2 μ L) was added into 1 μ L of SYBR Green PCR master mix and 1 μ L of forward primer and reverse primer each ( Table 1 ). qPCR amplification was carried out for 40 cycles under the reaction conditions of 95 o C, 60 s: 95°C, 15 s; 55°C, 30 s; and 72°C, 35 s, followed by 1 cycle under the reaction conditions of 95°C, 30 s, and 55°C, 35 s. GAPDH was used as internal control for this determination, and the relative mRNA expression was measured according to the following equation: 2 −ΔCT = ΔCT (detection gene) - ΔCT (GAPDH) [ 11 ].…”

“…For cNA synthesis, 5 μL of the diluted RNA extract was taken, and cDNA was prepared using a reverse transcriptase kit. en, the cDNA template (2 μL) was added into 1 μL of SYBR Green PCR master mix and 1 μL of forward primer and reverse primer each ( [11].…”

“…Malus asiatica Nakai (MAN) is a kind of Malus mill plant in the family Rosaceae, which contains nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and other mineral elements, as well as a variety of vitamins and flavonoids. 1 Rosaceae plants have a wide range of pharmacological functions, such as anti-cancer, anti-tumor, liver-protecting, antiaging, anti-mildew, antibacterial, lipid-lowering and cholesterol-lowering effects. [2][3][4][5] In South China, MAN leaves (MANL) are used as drinks similar to tea.…”
