Abstract: By systematic review with a three-level, mixed-effects meta-analysis, this paper examines the prevalence of sexting experiences among youths aimed at analyzing conceptual and methodological moderators that might explain its heterogeneity. “…In this paper, 7% of 13 to 14-year-old pupils reported to have already sent a sexually related image of themselves. This rate is in line with the results of a meta-analysis 39 that found 4% among 12-yearolds and 9% among 14-year-olds. The increase in the rates of this meta-analysis study with the age of the respondents is also in line with our result showing that an older age is associated with the practice of sending such images.…”

“…It is possible that a misinterpretation of our question could partly explain our results related to gender differences in non-consensual sending and receiving of TMSIs. However, researchers have previously found that there are no differences between men and women in non-consensual sharing of TMSIs (Garcia et al, 2016 ; Madigan et al, 2018 ; Molla-Esparza et al, 2020 ). We also did not find gender differences in the prevalence of non-consensual sharing of TMSIs.…”
