“…15 Zug et al detected positivity in ratios of 28,3% nickel sulfate, 17,9% cobalt chloride, 15,3% thimerosal in their test on 391 contact dermatitis patients. 16 Demirgüneş et 19 Storrs et al reported sensitivities against nickel, parefenilendiamin quaternium-15 and neomycin as a result of the patch test on contact dermatitis patients. 20 Rui et al detected positivity in the ratios of 24,6% for nickel sulfate, 10,2% for cobalt chloride and 8,7% for potassium dicromat.…”

“…Thus, the DGEBA epoxy resin, because it is one of the top 20 contact allergens, was induded in the European standard patch-test series in 1966 (Jolanki 1991). In the 1970S and 1980s, the North American Contact Dermatitis Group (NACDG) patch tested approximately 9000 patients for allergic contact dermatitis and found that 2-3% were allergic to the standard epoxy resin (Rudner 1977;Lynde et al 1982;Storrs et al 1989); in the beginning of the 1990S, the positive response was 1.8% among 3500 patients studied (Marks et al 1995). Edman (1988) found a lower frequency, namely 1%, among 3562 patients patch tested during 1982-1987 at the Malmö General Hospital, Sweden.…”

“…Among the aromatic compounds with ortho or para substituents, however, there are differences in the per centages of positive reactions observed [1- 3,10]. Such differences may be related to the rate of oxidation of the compounds and, therefore, to the amount of quinone generated in the same period [11], To evaluate if the patch test responses correlate to the chemical structure of the aromatic compounds, in patients positive to at least one hapten of the para group, the number of positive reactions to freshly prepared PPD and to structurally related haptens was compared with the rate of auto-oxidation.…”
